As students concerned about food waste and community involvement, we recognize a significant problem: perfectly edible surplus food often goes unused while food banks struggle to meet the needs of those facing hunger. This is where Crop Connect comes in. Crop Connect is a platform designed to bridge the gap between farmers and food banks. Farmers often have excess produce that may be slightly imperfect or nearing its 'sell by' date, but is still perfectly nutritious. Currently, this food can go to waste due to challenges with distribution and logistics. Crop Connect solves this by allowing farmers to easily list their available surplus, either as donations or at reduced prices for food banks. The other vital part of the equation is transportation. This is where teen drivers step in. Crop Connect facilitates volunteer opportunities for teens seeking community service hours. These young drivers can sign up to pick up these food donations from farms and deliver them directly to food banks in their area. This system not only combats food waste and hunger but also empowers young people to make a tangible difference in their communities.
What if we could connect these people?
